Handful of Redemption - Boy Sets Fire: Kratos and Lloyd
After four thousand years, Kratos had stopped believing in miracles.
Hed seen too much - had experienced too much lost. In the end, he thought that all was lost; that the only way for it was to back the winning horse and side with those that had the most power. There would be sacrifices. There would be fallen heroes chasing after lost ideals. But . . . there were no miracles. There was no hope. All was lost.
That is, until the day of the oracle. Until he happened upon Martel Temple and pivoted to find himself staring into a pair of brown eyes that were exactly like hers.
It turned out that Lloyd didnt just have Annas eyes, either. He had her temper, her spirit. Like his mother, Lloyd was fiery, and believed in equality, and hoped for a peaceful world. Like his mother, Lloyd wasnt cynical or jaded. He still believed in miracles, in the impossible. And, slowly but surely, Kratos felt his own ice begin to melt, and began to see what Lloyd saw.
All was not lost. There was still a way. Hope still existed and miracles could still happen, if one opened their eyes and saw them.
Kratos knew that hed committed sins in the past. He knew that hed done a lot of things that most would never forgive. But, his son forgave them. His son forgave Kratos sins, so long as Kratos was willing to try again - willing to leave Cruxis, to fight for what was right.
And Kratos found that he couldnt quite say no to that. Even if he couldnt stay in the New World, even if he had to go off on Derris-Kharlan . . . To have his jaded view softened into something realistic, but still slightly more idealistic . . . it was worth it.
Lloyd had offered him redemption, and Kratos took it.
And in another four thousand years, Kratos would be positive that he still would not regret that decision.

No. The answer is no. gosh.
[tangent] And for the live of you, man, don't even get me started on your OTHER kid after all this. Jeez.[/tangent]
Gets the point across but... maybe a bit too short? Yes, it is a drabble, but I think just another paragraph of description of Lloyd or someting would have done a lot in the positive direction.

Take a look
look around
see the sky
without the ground.
Spread your wings
see the light
risk the jump
and take the flight.

And yeah, I know. -.- I'm soooo annoyed at Kratos, ESPECIALLY since we have to deal with REGAL since KRATOS IS GONE A;DLKJSFLA;JFDSAJFDSLA;
In the second game, I mean. WHICH COMES OUT ON THE ELEVENTH WHAT WHAT.

"You never walked so tall until that moment when fate and circumstance collide. When all it takes is a step that you never saw and burdens fall away . . ."
That always makes me think of the first moment when Kratos and Lloyd look at each other. 'Cause Kratos is fate, and Lloyd is circumstance.

i didn't feel like commenting on each individual fic, so i'm doing it all here
I LOVED THEM ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
even though i was confused 95% of the time for WoS, they were still so well written!
i think i liked the Tales ones better only because i actually understood what was happening and i know the characters a lot better.
my favorite were the zelos-narrated ones, because he makes the BEST narrator with all his issues and just his personality, even if i didn;t like him all that much in the game... (weird, i like zelos fics more than i like zelos...)
anyway, they were all great!
P.S. SKJAHJHGJHSD DON'T LEAVE KRATOS! >:[
honestly, why even leave? was it entirely necessary to go up on derris-kharlan?
what a jerk.
