“Just Like You” - Three Days Grace: Lloyd and Kratos

For whatever reason, sometimes Kratos could just look at him, and it would piss Lloyd off.

That day, Kratos had been criticizing him non-stop. Genis was getting a kick out of it, of course, and Colette was trying to find the humor in the situation for Lloyd’s sake. But Lloyd, who’d thought that he’d really been improving - especially since the Seal of Water - was just on his last nerve.

“Lloyd, your technique was sloppy there, and I think - ”

“You know what?” Lloyd interrupted, finally losing his temper and turning to snap at Kratos. “I don’t care what you think, Kratos.”

And damn if Kratos’ expression didn’t change at all, save to become more coolly arrogant. “If that is the case, then why do you ask for my assistance when it comes to your training?”

“Because - because - argh!” Lloyd threw his hands up in frustration, though quickly balled them into fists again at his sides. “Because I thought maybe you could treat me with some respect, and understand that I’m not - I can’t - not everyone can be like you, Kratos! All cold and heartless!”

Again, Kratos’ expression didn’t change, though he did remark quietly, “Clearly. You don’t seem to be able to get your heart off your sleeve, Lloyd. Though I do suggest learning how sometime soon.”

“Yeah, well I don’t care what you suggest,” Lloyd growled, getting up from the table and moving to the door. He needed to get out of the inn for awhile. “You’re not my father, Kratos,” he snapped one final time, before slamming the door behind him.
